Sometimes a conversation can lead to finding a true treasure! Several months ago, a friend and I discussed a shared passion for local businesses and artisans. She clued me into one of her favorite small businesses that truly nourishes heart and soul, Enlightened Balance in Crystal Lake. Crystal Lake is quite a bit of a drive from me, so winter did slow down my ability to make a visit. Fortunately, last week afforded me the opportunity to drop in. Right away, I felt at home and marveled at how much there was to look at!
The majority of Enlightened Balance's art, jewelry and decor offerings are made from local artisans. {Yes, I was in heaven!} Often, it is difficult to find even one locally made product when shopping, so it is refreshing to find such a cache! As you can imagine, each of these creations has a story and Enlightened Balance owner Kim will gladly tell you about them. I particularly enjoyed learned about scarves made from old saris. Money from these scarves go to help women in India. Something beautiful for you and a way to help someone else!
I also could not resist taking a look at the plethora of beach stones, each masterfully decorated with a unique design or saying. They make such perfect thought gifts!
Jewelry, wall art, soap, candles and more pieces will inspire you! Every time I walked through the store, I found some new curiosity.
Natural and essential oil based products fill the shelves and there is something for everyone trying to add some more peace and balance to life. If you are a tea lover like me, you will appreciate the nice collection of Tea Forte teas including both silk bag and loose leaf varieties. I have only seen Tea Forte in pouches before so I was pleased to learn there is also loose leaf.
Crystals of every shape and size can be found throughout the store. If you are looking for a particular crystal to enhance a characteristic, you will find it! I did pick up one of the lovely gypsum roses below. Beautiful!
Besides providing a shopping haven, Enlightened Balance also fosters the spirit through various classes and events. The second weekend of every month there is a psychic and holistic fair where you can explore with readings, reflexology, chakra balancing and more. Other events include guided meditations, water color painting, essential oil classes, soul collage classes, runes casting and more. Sounds like some good ideas for a girls' adventure!
