Meals and salads at the Rack House Kitchen and Tavern in Arlington Heights, IL

This past weekend we visited Rack House Kitchen & Tavern in Arlington Heights for the second time. We enjoyed the Rack House on our first visit and I am happy to report that we lenjoyed it on our second visit as well. The Rack House has a comfortable cabin-like atmosphere with a dining room and bar. So, a fun place with the kids for lunch or dinner and a place for a drink for the adults in the evening. The menu features BBQ and smokehouse delights but in general is pretty expansive and has quite a few other selections. On our first visit, we tried a couple of the salads:

Vibrant salad with tomatoes, avocados and cheese

Salad with cheese, cucumbers and black beans

The salads were large and quite delicious. Definitely filling with vibrant vegetation! On this visit we also tried a BBQ chicken and pulled pork dinner. The dinner portion was also large and included cornbread, a baked potato and coleslaw. Also a hit!

On our most recent visit, I sampled the catfish tacos. The tacos come with coleslaw on top and a side of chips and salsa. I enjoyed the salsa and would have liked more to put on my tacos. The salsa is a fire roasted salsa, so quite yummy. All in all, I enjoyed the tacos and nearly finished my complete meal while at the Rack House. I did somehow sneak one taco home to eat while working......

My husband had the pulled pork sandwich with tater tots. He felt the sandwich was a bit over dressed but quite enjoyed the tater tots. Look at those portions!

The menu at the Rack House is great for families -- a little something for everyone. Of particular interest for our next visit -- they have homemade mac 'n cheese with all sorts of mixins including caramelized onions. Intriguing!
