Town House Books and Cafe in St. Charles, Illinois

On a weekend visit to St. Charles, Illinois, we visited Town House Books and Cafe for the first time for a little lunch. The adorable local business is housed in a historic home dating back to the 1850's. The quaint shop and cafe provide the perfect ambiance for us to relax a bit on a Sunday afternoon.

On Sundays, the cafe has a brunch menu which includes egg dishes, french toast, quiche, sandwiches, soups and salads. A selection of pastries, cookies, pies and cakes also adds temptation. After perusing the menu, my daughter chose the Monte Cristo which consisted of the cafe's brioche French toast filled with smoked ham, turkey and Swiss cheese. Yum!

My husband went with the New Favorite which is an English muffin egg sandwich with smoked ham, Brie cheese, roasted red peppers and sharp honey mustard. He also received a side of greens. A great sandwich and we were totally impressed with the portion of greens!

I had the yummy half Tuna-Dill Sandwich with a side of greens. My lunch was perfect before an afternoon exploring a nearby park.

Before leaving, I did pick up a White Chocolate Raspberry Scone to bring home. It was delicious! I tried to just nibble on it but ended up eating the whole thing at once. Nothing like a fresh baked scone!

The shop is not too far from the Fox River, so we walked down for a little stroll. The river walk is beautiful with plenty of sculptures to enjoy.

Town House Books and Cafe provides for a charming aside. The adorable bookstore is one to add to your next visit to the St. Charles, IL area. I know we will be back!
