The weekend is almost here! Things are starting to get a little spooky around here as we move towards Halloween! Of course, there still are the warm hues of autumn and plenty of autumn fun ahead. Here are my local picks for family fun this weekend:

- October 5-7 Highwood Pumpkin Festival, jack-o-lanterns, carnival rides, festival events and more, $3 daily admission, $5 weekend pass, kids 6 and under are free

- October 5-7 Scarecrow Fest, St. Charles, incredible number of scarecrows around town crafted by area organizations and businesses, craft show, entertainment, carnival and more

- October 6-7 Arboretum Art Festival, Arboretum Shops of South Barrington
- October 6 Autumn Harvest, North School Park, Arlington Heights, 11AM-3PM, scarecrow building, petting zoo, face painting, crafts and more, free
- October 6 Northwest Celtic Fest, Sears Center, Hoffman Estates, 11AM-4PM, music, dance, kids activities and more, free
