Savoring Cafe Aroma's Comfort Flavors While in Chicago's North Shore

Savoring Café Aroma's Comfort Flavors While in Chicago's North Shore

**Disclosure: Thank for Chicago's North Shore and Café Aroma for accommodating my visit. I did receive a complimentary meal for the purposes of this review. No other compensation was received. All opinions are 100% my own.

Entering Café Aroma in Winnetka, warm hues and ambiance immediately embraced us for a relaxed lunch full of carefully melded flavors. The interior of Café Aroma displays a comfortable vibe while also adding a bit of richness. Adorning the wall, we found artwork displayed which we quickly learned was painted by owner Mitra Ryndak.

My husband and I began to peruse the menus and quickly realized the wealth of flavorful options available.  Café Aroma opens for breakfast and lunch seven days a week. You can order breakfast all day, so there are so many options! While we were there for lunch, ordering a breakfast item was sure tempting! In particular, the homemade croissants on the counter up front looked mighty scrumptious. They can double as dessert, right?

Loose Leaf Tea Heaven:

I was thrilled to see that Cafe Aroma carries a range of loose leaf teas.

I did have to check them out. After exploring a number of tea scents, I went with organic green.

My husband went with a cappucino. In addition to coffee drinks and tea, Café Aroma boasts smoothies and fresh squeezed juice.

We took awhile to choose lunch. The menu featured quite a plethora of salads and sandwiches. Selections include unique flavors and old favorites. You can also order a half sandwich and a soup or a half sandwich and a salad. I was between a few selections but eventually settled on the Roasted Vegetable Sandwich on a pita with a cup of tomato soup. I did order the half sandwich - soup option.

My lunch looked BEAUTIFUL, full of those vibrant colors that our sun-starved winter here in Chicago has been missing. My sandwich was incredible, a comforting blend of hummus, feta, tomatoes, zucchini, squash and mushrooms wonderfully warm on a winter's day. The tomato soup exhibited the comfortable familiarity of a rainy day soup while also having unique flavors wrapped in. I could not have asked for a better cup of soup to lift my spirits on a cold winter day!

Talk about comfort food! My husband's Edwardo's Grilled Sandwich full of turkey, ham, bacon, cheese and tomatoes with bread crusted with parmesan really fit the bill! The sandwich was accompanied by sriracha fries. This past week I actually heard discussion about sriracha fries that were too hot. Café Aroma's sriracha fries had a nice heat and were not too hot. We quite enjoyed them!

After lunch, we lounged around for a little. I talked a little to Mitra and learned about her culinary training in Paris. She had enjoyed cooking all her life. Opening Café Aroma seemed to be a natural progression from that. While relaxing and chit-chatting, the croissants still beckoned me. Since Mitra had trained in Paris, I knew that I had to try one of the chocolate croissants. Delicious!

As we left Café Aroma, I stopped to check out the chocolate by local chocolatier Chocolate Inspirations. Yum! Café Aroma is such a genial and comforting spot for a meal, a true spot to visit and stay for awhile. Our meals were delicious and we loved coffee and tea options inviting us to sit and talk for a bit. On your next visit to Winnetka, Café Aroma presents a lovely bistro option for a leisurely and delicious meal.
