Relaxing with Craft Beer at Ten Ninety in Glenview, Illinois

My husband and I unexpectedly found ourselves with a free afternoon this past weekend. If you have been following for awhile, you know that I spend quite a few of my winter or rainy day afternoons enjoying a mocha latte. However, this winter has been long and I am taking a bit of a break from mocha lattes! I think I may have had one too many with as many snowy days as we have had! Instead, we opted to check out a local craft brewery. After looking for a little, we settled on Ten Ninety in Glenview and I am glad that we did!

Overall, the craft beer scene in the Chicago suburbs has really grown. The explosion has also generated an exciting range of inventive flavors all nearby! As I have explored different craft beers, I have realized I do like quite a few even though I am not normally a beer drinker. A tasting is always fun, so we opted for a flight at Ten Ninety. As part of our flight, I enjoyed Zen which featured green tea and lemongrass. Could you get a beer that was more for me? I did quite enjoy it and was totally Zen!

We also had Juice God which was citrusy. Ten Ninety has a pretty decent sized selection and I honestly can't remember the other two we tried. We did quite enjoy them and I would like to return to sample some more. We did not try the Dark Side of the Strawberry Stout barrel aged with chocolate and strawberries. I don't believe you can get that as part of the flight, but it sounds pretty interesting and would be a fun pour to try. Ten Ninety has seasonal beers and limited release beers. So, you never know what you will find!

I was really impressed with the size of Ten Ninety's taproom. I have been to so many taprooms that are way too small, almost dampening the experience upon arrival. There was plenty of space to settle in for a bit which was nice on our free afternoon. We were not there for any food on our visit but they have a nice menu of pizza, salads, wings and some more interesting items like mussels and more. We will have to try the food soon and report back! They do have events including comedy shows, so follow on Facebook for details. Our stop was a rather quick one, but we can't wait to return and try out more brews and some food!

Update: We did return to Ten Ninety to enjoy a meal with our beer tasting! I went for a mixed green salad which was incredible and a large portion. We ended up sharing it a bit. Full of vibrant veggies, a bit of blue cheese and yum:

We also devoured the homemade chicken tenders. They were certainly scrumptious perfecting moist with a delicious coating. The accompanying spicy sauce was a bit addictive for me.

My daughter ordered a pizza. She loved the pizza at Ten Ninety and brought home some to finish the next day. Look at the size of the pie! All in all we loved the food and look forward to returning and trying more of the menu.
