Civil War Experience, Art, Beer Garden, Pride, Nature Explorations and More Weekend Fun:

We have another fabulous weekend ahead! This weekend, there is a good range of fun for different likes. Here are my picks in the Chicago suburbs:

  • June 8 Island Rendezvous, Isle La Cache, Romeoville, 11AM-3PM, fur trader rendezvous reenactment, games, activities and more, also check out the museum, birds of prey, free
  • June 8 Horsin' Around Mustang Appreciation Day, St. James Farm, Warrenville, 12PM-4PM, get up close with equines, more activities, free
  • June 8 & 9 Reptiles Rule, Morton Arboretum, Lisle, 12PM-3PM weather permitting, Scholarly Scales will be in the Children's Garden with snakes, turtles and lizards, free with admission
  • June 8 Beer Garden, Volkening Heritage Farm, Schaumburg, 4PM-7PM, bring a picnic dinner, beer and soda for purchase, backyard games, music and more, $5 per person -- rcv 1 pretzel or pickle and a reusable glass, kids 3 and under are free

  • June 9 Eldridge Adventure Day, Eldridge Park, Elmhurst, 10AM-1PM, nature fun and discovery, free
  • June 9 Aurora Pride Parade, 12PM-2PM, family friendly event in support and celebration of LGBTQI community, family and friends, more events throughout the weekend
  • June 9 Herp Hike, Crabtree Nature Center, Barrington, 1PM, hike looking for amphibians and reptiles, wear closed toe shoes, dress for the weather, about 2 hours, free
  • June 9 Hometown Picnic, Naper Settlement, 1PM-4PM, bring a picnic, vintage baseball game starts at 1:30PM, free with regular admission
  • June 9 Fermilab Outdoor Family Fair, Batavia, 1PM-4PM, sweep for insects, see a bison herd, go on a nature scavenger hunt, see how raptors see and more, free
