Chicago Suburbs Family Fun August 8-11, 2019 Including: Kite Festivals, French Connection, Food Trucks, Veggie Fest and More

The weekend is nearly here! Be sure to soak up that summer fun this weekend! Here are my picks in the Chicago suburbs this weekend:

  • May 18-September 21 Butterfly House, Peck Farm, Geneva, Mon-Sat 9AM-5PM, Sun 12PM-5PM, closed Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day, $2 pp donation, $5 per family
  • May 25-September 2 Butterflies and Blooms, Chicago Botanic Garden, 10AM-5PM daily, see website for fees, weather dependent
  • May 24-September 15 Nature Connects Lego Sculptures by Sean Kenney at The Morton Arboretum, comes with regular admission, see previous post for more details
  • July 6-September 2 Bristol Renaissance Faire on Saturdays, Sundays and Labor Day

  • August 8-11 Augustfest, St. Zacharias, Des Plaines, live music, carnival rides, kids activities August 10-11; see schedule

  • August 11 French Connection Day, Cantigny Park, Wheaton, French open air market, can-can dancers, mimes, craft project, live music, French treats to purchase and more, 10AM-4PM, $10 parking
  • August 11 Monarchs and Music, Main Beach, Crystal Lake, 12:30PM-4:15PM, live music, activities, games, monarch education, buy a pollinator plant, free admission
  • August 11 Hummingbird Sit, Sagawau, 1PM, sit and watch hummingbirds come to their feeders and learn about their behaviors from a naturalist, free
  • August 11 Magic of Cicadas, Crabtree Nature Center, Barrington, 1PM, learn about the cicada that pops up every 17 years and get close to the annual variety, free
  • August 11 The Buzz on Bees, River Trail Nature Center, 1:30PM, visit beehives and learn about the role of honeybees in nature, free
