The weekend is nearly here! There are tons of events to watch out for this weekend. Here are my picks in the Chicago suburbs for family fun:

- August 24-25 45th Annual Oak Park Ave Lake Arts and Crafts Show, Oak Park
- August 24-25 Port Clinton Art Festival, Highland Park, 10AM-6PM
- August 24 Prairie Fest, Prairie House, Westchester, 10AM-4PM, tour the restored house, raptor program, 10:30AM-12:30PM, re-enactors, quilt display and more, prairie walk
- August 24 Build a Bird House, Wildbird Shack, Mount Prospect, 10:30AM-12PM, $45 per team, build a bird house with your favorite little one, must register
- August 24 7th Annual Color Aloft Balloon Festival, Grayslake, Central Park, 3PM-9PM, 1 launch and 1 glow, free admission
- August 24 German Beer Garden, Volkening Heritage Farm. 4PM-7PM, German music, pretzels, games, $5 includes a pretzel or pickle and reusable glass, beer and soda for purchase, bring a picnic

- August 25 City of Lights Ukelele Festival, Downtown Aurora, 11AM-6PM, enjoy workshops, shop vendors, uke strums, open mics, by donation, tickets $15 pp or $30 per family online, children under 12 are free
- August 25 Walk in the Park, North School Park, Arlington Heights, 10AM-5PM, juried art show featuring art from the Midwest, art for sale, kids art activities, free
