Revolutionary War Reenactment, Festival of the Vine, Scandinavian Day, Art Fests and More Family Fun in the Chicago Suburbs September 6-8, 2019

Time to think weekend fun here in the Chicago suburbs! There are so many things to choose from this weekend including Cantigny's Revolutionary War Reenactment, Festival of the Vine, Tails on Trails, Scandinavian Day, a Pooch Parade and more:

Ongoing:
  • May 18-September 21 Butterfly House, Peck Farm, Geneva, Mon-Sat 9AM-5PM, Sun 12PM-5PM, closed Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day, $2 pp donation, $5 per family
  • May 24-September 15 Nature Connects Lego Sculptures by Sean Kenney at The Morton Arboretum, comes with regular admission, see previous post for more details
Friday, September 6:
  • September 6-8 Festival of the Vine, Geneva, fun for the whole family, live music, trolleys, horse drawn carriage, arts and crafts, french market, face painting, story time and much more plus wine, of course! See website for more details.
  • September 6 Kickoff to Oktoberfest Bier Garten, Volkening Heritage Farm, Schaumburg, 4:30PM-7:30PM, local craft beer and soda for sale, $5 admission includes pretzel and glass, backyard games, bring along a picnic

  • September 8 Scandinavian Day, South Elgin, Vasa Park, 10AM-5PM, $10 pp, children 12 and under are free, Scandinavian foods, music, vendors, living history, kids' activities and more
  • September 8 Migrating Monarchs Celebration, Thatcher Woods, River Forest, 12PM-3PM, see monarchs being tagged, learn about gardening to help monarchs, free admission, food available for purchase, across from Trailside Nature Museum
  • September 8 Deerfield Historical Society 40th Fall Festival, Deerfield Historic Village, 12PM-4PM, vintage games, artisan demos, music, free admission
  • September 8 Stroll Through a September Prairie, Crabtree Nature Center, Barrington, 1PM, free
