Serene Lake Views and Rolling Trails at Beverly Lake in Barrington, Illinois

Beverly Lake in Barrington immediately set me at ease with early spring tranquility. Upon merely viewing the lake through the windshield as we pulled in, a sense of awe and delight came over me. We happened to visit Beverly Lake in between bouts of rain and found it to be a welcome outdoor respite after being stuck inside. The lake is magical:

The main trail loop at Beverly Lake is about 2.4 miles and there are a variety of other trails that branch off. Immediately, enjoyed a slightly rolling path along the lake. We enjoyed watching the antics of a few blue jays.

During our visit, the forest floor was carpeted with white trout lilies. Dainty and beautiful!

Eventually, the trail wandered away from the lake. We began a little more difficult portion. Hilly terrain at points yielded to some fabulous views. The meld between the spring awakening of nature and the burnished remains of the previous seasons blended marvelously. Paths at Beverly Lake are grass and dirt. So, walking sticks may be welcome.

We look forward to returning to Beverly Lake to wander more of the trails. We did spot a few more wetlands while we were there to explore. Such a stunning preserve!

In addition to hiking, fishing, model boating, cross-country skiing and biking can be enjoyed at Beverly Lake. Dogs are welcome as long as they are on leashes. As always, check conditions before going out and pay attention to preserve closures.
