Colorado adventures meld together fantastic nature moment after nature moment. During our first day exploring the natural splendor of Colorado, we basked in the sparkly strands of Helen Hunt Falls in North Cheyenne Cañon Park. The Colorado Springs cascade streams over a craggy surface begging for pause by hikers.

With the name of Helen Hunt Falls, surely many of us think about the famous actress. However, the glimmering waterfall was named after Helen Maria Hunt Jackson. Jackson was a poet and writer who became influential as an activist supporting Native American rights. She exposed the government's violation of treaties with the Native American tribes advocating on their behalf.

Visiting Helen Hunt Falls:

Relatively easy to reach and explore, the parking lot at Helen Hunt Falls can fill quickly. So, I recommend visiting earlier or later in the day. Once you arrive at the falls, you will note a visitor area. We enjoyed views at the bottom of the falls. Then, we climbed up to more spectacular and unique views and vantage points. The 35-foot falls are the perfect little adventure while visiting Colorado Springs.

A Bonus Waterfall Discovering Silver Cascade Falls:

After view the falls from the bridge, we kept hiking up for a bit. Right above Helen Hunt Falls, we discovered Silver Cascade Falls which involved several cascades almost like a silver thread tumbling down the mountainside.

If you continue hiking, you will find the landscape striking. At a variety of points, I enjoyed how the rocky terrain melded with the movement of the rapids and the softness of the evergreens. Spectacular!

After visiting the duo of falls, we continued driving through North Cheyenne Cañon Park savoring magical view after magical view! We returned to the stunning natural space a few days later to hike wafting in sweeping views while fording rocky terrain. I will share more about this treasure and our further adventures in North Cheyenne Cañon Park in a future post!
