The weekend is right around the corner! A look ahead at this weekend's adventures and there are some great nature and art picks. Please be sure to register for events that require it. Here are my picks for this weekend:

Ongoing:

Ongoing through September 20 Butterflies and Blooms, Chicago Botanic Garden, 10AM-5PM, reserve timed entry with Chicago Botanic Garden, tickets for event will be at a ticket booth in the garden, Adults: $8, Seniors: $7, Children (3–12 yrs): $6 Children (2 and under): Free, Members receive $1 off each price Garden Plus members are free on Wednesdays, parking is $30 per car (free for members); social distancing measures are being practiced, masks are required in the Butterfly Enclosure

Ongoing Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Outdoor Tours; it is preferred that you order tickets online: https://flwright.org/

Ongoing - third Saturday in September, Butterfly House, Peck Farm, Geneva, must wear a mask, social distancing protocols in use and must be honored, $2 per person, $5 per person, Monday - Saturday 10AM-4PM; Sunday 12PM-4PM

Ongoing through October 11 Model Railroad: Landmarks of America at Chicago Botanic Garden, 10AM-5PM daily, enjoy trains as they travel through vignettes of iconic spots in America, the display incorporates a fantastic number of plants within the scenes, please reserve timed entry for the gardens, parking $30 per car on weekends (free for members), there are separate admission fees for the railroad garden.

Ongoing Dunn Museum Timed EntryLibertyville, 10AM-3:30PM, must reserve timed entry, nonresident $10, $6 seniors, $6 kids, resident $6, $3 and $3 respectively, under 4 free, learn about the history and culture of Lake County, museum open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays only

Ongoing through October 31 Naperville Settlement timed entry, Naperville, $5 per person, residents free, register online, must follow social distancing guidelines and wear a mask, open Tuesdays-Sundays

Ongoing through October 4 Elgin Fringe Festival Virtual Performances, see websites for details and ticket prices

Thursday, September 10:

September 10-13 Jazz Festival in St. Charles, features jazz music throughout St. Charles, drive in concert on September 10 that you will need to purchase a ticket for, check website for more info

Saturday, September 12:

September 12 Mission: Monarchs, Isle a la Cache, Romeoville, 8:30AM-9:30AM, ages 10+, learn how to tag monarchs and help tag them, free but registration is required by 9/11, call 815-886-1467

September 12 International Forest Bathing Day, Little Red Schoolhouse, Crabtree Nature Center, River Trail Nature Center, Trailside, 9AM-10AM or 9AM-11AM depending on location, bringing awareness of forest bathing, free but must register by calling appropriate center, must follow social distancing guidelines and wear masks

September 12  Nature Walks at Fullersburg Woods; 45 minute walks starting on the hour at 9AM, 10AM, 11AM, 12PM, 1PM and 2PM, $2 per person, must wear a mask and maintain 6 foot distances from others, those under 18 must be accompanied by and adult, registration not required

September 12 Family Yoga in the Park with Hop Along Yogi Kids Yoga, Klehm Park, Arlington Heights, 10AM-10:30AM, $8 per person, must register, will be following social distancing

September 12 - 13 Barrington Art Festival, 10AM-5PM, time entry reservations requested, free, must follow COVID protocols, reserve tickets online

September 12 Pocket Circus Celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month, Mount Prospect Public Library via Zoom, 11AM-11:30AM, bilingual show with juggling, acrobatics, magic and more, free but you must register

September 12 Design and Discover: Clouds Zoom Webinar, through Forest Preserve District of Will County, 1PM-2PM, free but must register, call 815-886-146, for ages 9+

Sunday, September 13:

September 13 Art in Nature: Snake Paper Craft, Facebook Live Crabtree Nature Center, 10AM Free

September 13 Migrating Monarchs, Crabtree Nature Center, 1PM, learn about the life history of monarchs, look at specimens, take a short hike, free but you must register by calling 847-381-6592, must wear masks and follow social distancing

September 13 Auto Historica XVI Remixed Vintage Car Parade, Wilmette, 1:30PM, free, see website for route detail
