Happy almost weekend! Here are a few ideas for this weekend. Hard to believe but we are in maple tapping season!

Ongoing:

February 1-28 Winter Wonderland at Canal Shores -- a local art event in Evanston that gets everyone engaged in creating and exploring! There are special demos on Saturdays at the fire pit, so check those out.  Check out how you can contribute as well. I am personally adding to this exhibition and can't wait!

February 4 - Ongoing Naper Settlement is back open to the public including viewing the Women: Waves of Change exhibit. Naper Settlement is currently open Tuesdays - Fridays 10AM-4PM, $5 pp, must register ahead.

February 19 - February 28 McHenry County Restaurant Week Take Out Edition

February 26 - March 7  Lake County Restaurant Rally -- support Lake County restaurants during a special restaurant week!

Saturday, February 27:

February 27 & 28 Farm Life in Winter, Kline Creek Farm, West Chicago, 1:30PM-3:30PM, learn about work on the farm in winter and even help, masks required, free

February 27 & 28 Sap's Rising, River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 10:30AM or 1:30PM, take a walk and learn about maple syrup, call 847-824-8360

February 27 Virtual Maker Fest, Niles Public Library via Zoom, 12PM-4PM, learn about local makers and watch demos

February 27 Winter Wonder Wagon, Shawnee Park, Skokie, 1PM-2:30PM, providing a variety of family fun activities and a campfire, $10 per family, must register

February 27 Family Fun Hike at Lake Renwick, Plainfield, 1PM-2PM, hike and explore with a naturalist, geared towards families with kids ages 6-12, free but must register by 2/26

February 27 Wildlife Tracking and Observation, Willowbrook, 2PM-4PM, learn to recognize the animal sounds around you, ages 12 and up, under 18 must be accompanied with an adult, $5 per person, must register, must wear masks

February 27 Howl at the Moon Coyotes and Other Canines, Lake County Forest Preserve District, 7PM-8PM, via Zoom, $3 pp, must register

Sunday, February 28

February 28 Tapping Into Nature, Coral Woods, Marengo, 2PM-3:30, help tap trees to get ready for the Festival of the Sugar Maple, designed for those 10+, must register, face mask required, kids under 13 must be accompanied by adult

February 28 Free Guided Nature Walk, The Grove, Glenview, 2PM-3PM, must register, call 224-521-2101, face mask required

February 28 Virtual Maple Tapping Event, Lake County Forest Preserve District, 2PM-3PM, via Zoom, $3 pp, must register
