March 1-April 3 Project Hop, Fill A Heart 4 Kids, Lake Forest, Fill A Heart 4 Kids needs our help to put together fun Easter baskets for kids in foster homes, sponsorship is a $15 minimum, sign up through sign up genius, the event is heart warming and you will be delighted by the whimsical decor at Fill A Heart! **Fill A Heart has great Covid precautions to keep you safe!**

March 1-31 Self Guided Trivia Trails, Lyons Woods Forest Preserve, Waukegan, 1.5 mile looped trail, trivia questions along the way

March 1-31 Self-Guided Maple Syrup Hikes, Ryerson Conservation Area, Riverwoods, follow the signs to learn about maple syrup production

March 13-28  Lucky Leprechaun Pot Of Gold Challenge, leprechauns have left their gold in three South Elgin parks, find the letters and put together three Irish names, submit per directions for a prize

Dunn Museum in Libertyville is back open, please reserve timed ticket, learn about the history and natural history of Lake County, enjoy special exhibits as well, admission fee

Ongoing Naper Settlement is back open to the public including viewing the Women: Waves of Change exhibit. Naper Settlement is currently open Tuesdays - Fridays 10AM-4PM, $5 pp, must register ahead.

Saturday, March 13

March 13-15 Catch the Leprechaun, Trailside, River Forest, 9AM-4PM, story walk featuring the book How to Catch a Leprechaun, solve the clues to reach the pot of gold, catch the leprechaun and win a prize, stop at Trailside's Nature Play Area to get the materials needed

March 13 Yorkville St. Patrick's Day Celebration, Yorkville Riverfront Park, 9AM-7PM, lucky leprechaun hunt 9AM-1PM, leprechaun meet and greets 11AM-1PM, live music and fireworks, see website for schedule

March 13 Turtle Spotlight, Trailside, River Forest, 10AM, learn about turtles and take a walk to the pond to see if they are out, must register, 708-366-6530

March 13 & 14 Patterson Glassworks Open House: Make Flowers or Shamrocks, Mundelein, $35, by appointment only

March 14 Learn About Butterflies Day, Virtual Program through Lake County Forest Preserve District, 1PM-2PM, $3, must register

March 14 Vernal Pools, Crabtree Nature Center, Barrington, 1PM, for ages 12 and up, learn about these fleeting ecosystems, must register, must wear masks, call 847-381-6592
