Chicago Suburban Family Fun April 17-18, 2021
The weekend is here and spring is sharing its cheer! Here are my picks for fun in the Chicago suburbs this weekend:

Dunn Museum in Libertyville is back open, please reserve timed ticket, learn about the history and natural history of Lake County, enjoy special exhibits as well, admission fee
Ongoing Naper Settlement is back open to the public Tuesdays - Saturdays 10AM-4PM,, Sundays 1PM-4PM, adults $10 pp, seniors 62+ $8, kids ages 4-12 $7, Naperville residents (with proof of residency), children under 4 and Naper Settlement Members are free, must register ahead.
Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays Book a Tour of The Grove Interpretive Center, Glenview, $2 for residents, $ 5 for non, 10AM-2PM, groups limited to 25, children under 2 are free, meet all of the resident animals and learn about Robert Kennicott, must register online, tours are 45 minutes
Through June 6 Simply Spring Butterfly Exhibit, Nicholas Conservatory, Rockford, enjoy viewing live butterflies flying in the conservatory and learn about their life cycle, $9 per adult, $7per child or senior, must pre-register
It's Showtime: Spring 2021 at Chicago Botanic Gardens, enjoy spring come alive at Chicago Botanic Gardens this spring as flowers begin to bloom, the gardens will now be open until 7PM, must reserve a time for your visit, parking is $25 per car week days and $30 on weekends, free for members
Art for The Earth 2021 with Evanston Made, create Earth friendly nature art in Evanston and share with hashtage #evanstonmade or #evanstonartconnects

April 17 Ralph Freese Memorial Paddle, Skokie Lagoons, 9AM-12PM, must bring own canoes and flotation devices, experienced paddlers, must register
April 17 Nature Walk, Fullersburg Woods, Oakbrook, 9AM or 11AM, $5 per person, register online, under 18 must be accompanied by an adult
April 17 & 18 Earth Day Safari, Plum Creek Nature Center, Crete, 10AM-4PM, pick up an adventure pack at the nature center and explore
April 17 Earth Day Kite Fly, Prairie Point Community Park, Oswego, 10AM-4PM, bring your own kite to fly or watch the demos, free
April 17 Peek Into the Pond, Facebook Live with Little Red Schoolhouse, 11AM, join to see what is found in the pond
April 17 Tour Viking -- The Viking Ship in Geneva, 1PM-4PM, $7 pp age 18+, children free, must wear mask and social distance, must register for a time
April 17 Trader's Open House, Isle a la Cache, Romeoville, 1PM-3PM, the fur trader's cabin will be open, so learn all about fur traders from New France, must wear masks and social distance, free
April 17 & 18 The Progressive Farm: A Barnyard Tour, Kline Creek Farm, West Chicago, 1:30PM, 2:30PM, 3:30PM, learn about farming towards the end of the 19th century, costumed interpreter, free but tours are limited to 10 people, those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult, masks and social distancing required
Sunday, April 18
April 18 Self Guided Wildflower Walk, Sagawau Environmental Learning Center, 8AM-4PM, get to know the wildflowers by their names, find plant markers as you walk the trails, free, must wear mask and social distance
April 18 Waterfowl Nesting, Crabtree Nature Center, 9:30AM-2PM, pick up an informational guided to learn about this busy season and our feathery friends, free
April 18 GPS Scavenger Hunt, River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 11AM, 12:30PM or 2PM, registration required, call River Trail at 847-824-8360, social distancing and masks required
April 18 Virtual Earthy Week -- Earth Day Every Day, Lake County Forest Preserve District, free, 1PM-2PM, must register, great for families with kids under 12
