The weekend is nearly here! Here are my picks for family fun in the Chicago Suburbs this weekend! Please remember to verify with websites any special COVID measures they may have as some still are requiring masks. Have a great weekend!


Ongoing Naper Settlement is back open to the public Tuesdays - Saturdays 10AM-4PM,, Sundays 1PM-4PM, adults $10 pp, seniors 62+  $8, kids ages 4-12 $7, Naperville residents (with proof of residency), children under 4 and Naper Settlement Members are free, must register ahead. Also, visit the new Answering the Call: Naperville at  War exhibit focusing on WWII.

May 8 - October 10 Model Railroad Garden open at Chicago Botanic Garden, Adults: $8, Seniors: $7, Children (3 – 12): $6 Children (2 and under): Free Members receive $1 off each price Garden Plus members get in free on Wednesdays, tickets are at ticket booth in front of exhibit and have timed entry, must also reserve time to visit gardens and purchase parking online, parking: $25 per weekday, $30 on weekends

May 22 - September 18 Butterfly House at Peck Farm in Geneva is open Monday - Saturday 9AM-5PM, Sunday 12PM-5PM, suggested donation $2 pp or $6 per family, masks and social distancing required.

May 14 - August 29 To the Moon Snoopy Soars with NASA, Elmhurst History Museum, learn how Snoopy was part of NASA's Manned Flight Awareness safety program, learn about the Apollo program and more, free

May 31 - September 6 Butterflies and Blooms, Chicago Botanic Gardens, 10AM-5PM, $25 parking during the week, $30 on weekends, tickets adults $8, seniors $7, children (3-12) $6, children 2 and under free, members $1 off, garden plus members free on Wednesdays, 10 visit pas $50 per members, $60 non members, must reserve timed-entry to garden, tickets for exhibit are at booth

Ongoing Human + Nature at Morton Arboretum, Lisle, stunning natural sculptures to help connect people with trees, the exhibition includes 5 incredible sculptures, included with normal admission

Ongoing through Labor Day Local Art Pop Up at Izaak Walton Park in Prospect Heights

Thursday, June 24

June 24 - 27 Swedish Days, Geneva, vendors, car show, carnival, cottage walks, visit the Viking Ship, Viking reenactors, Nordic Folk dancers and so much more! Kids' Day is on June 25, Family Fest is June 26, see website for full schedule and details.

June 25 Friday Night Water Ski Show, Wonder Lake, Wonder Lake Center Beach, 7PM-8:30PM, bring a blanket and watch the Wonder Lake Water Ski Show Team

June 25 - 27 Strawberry Fest in Long Grove, $5 pp, strawberry treats, live entertainment and more

June 26 Walk your Dog at Cantigny Park, Wheaton, 7AM-7PM, $10 parking, dogs are invited to walk Cantigny Park on this special day, rescues and shelters will be visiting 10AM-4PM

June 26 - 27 Naperville Artisan Fair, Naper Settlement, Naperville, 10AM-5PM, featuring 110 artists, contribute to the community mural, kids art tent and more, free admission

June 26 Pollinator Party, Little Red Schoolhouse, Willow Springs, 10AM-12PM, family activities focusing on pollinators, must register

June 26 - 27 Deer Park Town Center Art Show, Deer Park, 10AM-5PM Sat, 11AM-5PM Sun, free

June 26 & 27  Farmhouse Museum Tours, Kline Creek Farm, West Chicago, 10AM-4PM, learn what it was like to live on the farm and how farms served as building blocks of the rural community, free

June 26 Pioneer Day, The Grove, Glenview, 11AM-2PM, follow the map and enjoy hands-on follow learning about pioneer life, $5 pp (2 and under free), must register for slot

June 26 Barrington Area Library Teaching Garden Grand Opening, 12PM-4PM, make-and-take kits, storytime, free books

June 26 German Beer Garden, Heritage Farm, Schaumburg, 4PM-7:30PM, bring a picnic, join in games, one pretzel and one beer per ticket, more for purchase, $8 per resident, $9 per non, pre-registration suggested

June 26 Free Concert and Fireworks, Meadowdale Park, Carpentersville, family fun, concert, food trucks and more starting at 7:30PM, fireworks start about 9:30PM

June 26 Firefly Night Walk, St. James Farm, Warrenville, 8:30PM-10:30PM, 1.8 mile lantern walk, self guided, staggered times, must register, $10 pp, under 18 must be with an adult

Sunday, June 27

June 27 The Buzz on Bees, River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 10:30AM and 1:30PM, visit the beehives and learn about bees from beekeepers, free but must register

June 27 Science Sunday Owls, Crabtree Nature Center, Barrington, 1PM, learn about adaptations that make owls successful hunters, dissect an owl pellet, free but must register

June 27 Earth Day, Knoch Knolls, Naperville, 1PM-4PM, exhibits, kids activities and more, free, red oak starts for $5

June 27 Cantigny Summer Concert Series: The Fortunate Sons, Cantigny Park, Wheaton, 3PM-5PM, $10 parking
