The first weekend of autumn is upon us and there is plenty of fall fun to be had! Here are my picks for this weekend -- don't forget to check up on COVID protocols before attending:

Ongoing

May 8 - October 10 Model Railroad Garden open at Chicago Botanic Garden, Adults: $8, Seniors: $7, Children (3 – 12): $6 Children (2 and under): Free Members receive $1 off each price Garden Plus members get in free on Wednesdays, tickets are at ticket booth in front of exhibit and have timed entry, must also reserve time to visit gardens and purchase parking online, parking: $25 per weekday, $30 on weekends

Ongoing Human + Nature at Morton Arboretum, Lisle, stunning natural sculptures to help connect people with trees, the exhibition includes 5 incredible sculptures, included with normal admission

Ongoing - September 26 Par Excellence Redux at the Elmhurst Art Museum. This fun new interactive exhibit features 9 mini golf holes designed by both local artists and artists throughout the country. The exciting new exhibit honors the original Par Excellence exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1988. You must reserve a tee time. $10 per adult, $8 per senior, $5 for children and free for kiddies under 5.

September 11 - November 7 Richardson Corn Maze, Spring Grove, try weaving through the World's Largest Corn Maze and enjoy fall farm fun, open Thursdays-Sundays and Columbus Day, see website for hours and prices

September 25 Harvest Fest, Fischer Farm, Bensenville, 10:30AM-6PM, petting zoo, live music, games, autumn activities, beer, food, $10 pp

September 25 Carpentersville Fall Fest

September 25 Party for the Preserves Community Powwow, Bunker Hill, Niles, 1PM-4PM, free

September 25 & 26 Birds of Prey Demo, River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 1:30PM,  meet one of  the preserve's raptors and learn about their characteristics

September 25 History Hike, Cantigny Park, Wheaton, 2PM-2:45PM, no registration, $10 parking

September 25 & 26 Walking Plays: The Legacy of Sherwood Forest, Morton Arboretum, Lisle, 4PM, descendants of Robinhood and his men go on a madcap journey, $25 adults, $15 children ($15, $10 members), reserve tix online

Sunday, September 26

September 26 Alpaca Farm Days, Magic Meadows Alpacas, Wonder Lake, 10AM-2PM, come visit the farm, meet alpacas, and start your Christmas shopping

September 26 Harvest of the Acorn Moon Fall Festival, Oakhurst Forest Preserve, Aurora, 12PM-3PM, hayrides, pumpkin painting, guided hikes, nature crafts, folk music and more, free admission, nominal fees for crafts
