The weekend is here and we certainly have a lot of fun ahead! Here are my picks for family fun in the Chicago suburbs this weekend!

Ongoing Human + Nature at Morton Arboretum, Lisle, stunning natural sculptures to help connect people with trees, the exhibition includes 5 incredible sculptures, included with normal admission

October 13 - January 2, 2022 Par Excellence Redux: The Back 9, Elmhurst Art Museum. This is a fantastic opportunity to experience an interactive exhibit created by local artists. In honor of the original Par Excellence exhibit at The School of the Art Institute, local artists have created 9 unique mini golf holes that you can actually play! To enjoy this exhibit, you do have to reserve a tee time. Please see website for more information and how to book your time.

Through January 2 Lightscape at Chicago Botanic Garden November 12-January 2; Lightscape returns to Chicago Botanic Garden fusing old favorites, reimagined displays and new show stoppers! The gentle amble through stunning designs. Tickets are on sale now, but will go fast. So, purchase them soon!

Through January 9 Let It Shine Drive Thru Light Show in Northbrook, Schaumburg and Aurora, November 12-January 9; light installations synchronized to music, $29.99-$39.99; fast pass can be added on for $20; see website for more information and tickets. Tickets are only available online.

Legend of the Pickle Scavenger Hunt Kick Off, Woodstock, 12PM-4PM, pick up game cards for the hunt, 47 pickles are hidden, grab a free jar of pickles, Woodstock Willie and the Woodstock Pickle will be there 1PM-3PM

Illumination Tree Lights at The Morton Arboretum in Lisle, November 20-January 2. This year's event will use lights, motion and sound to highlight nature on a one-mile paved path. Visitors can warm up at bonfires and in the concession tent. Days vary. See website for schedule and to purchase tickets. They do sell out for this event, so snag tickets soon!

Santa's Rock N Lights, Lake County Fairgrounds, Grayslake, drive through light show of nearly 1000 elements, November 19 - January 2; 5PM-9:30PM see website for more information and to purchase tickets. Tickets may be purchased online only.

Winter Magic, Will Hills Golf Course, Northbrook, drive-through light event, November 20-January 2

Amaze Light Festival, Rosemont, $23 per adult, $18 for kids ages 2-12, light show, worlds to walk through and more, starts November 19

Evanston Made Holiday Market, old Urban Outfitters, Evanston, through December 19, shop from local makers, Wednesdays-Saturdays 12PM-7PM

Friday, November 19:

November 19 Hot Cocoa Stroll, Northbrook, 5:30PM, corner of Shermer and Meadow Rd, holiday lights will go on, ugly sweater contest, live acoustic violin, free hot cocoa, shop small businesses 

November 19 Winter Lights, Aurora, 6PM, kick off to the holiday season with Santa, Mrs. Claus, a light parade, fireworks and more

Saturday, November 20:

November 20 Feeder Watch, Crabtree Nature Center, Barrington, 9AM,  see and learn about the birds visiting the preserve's feeders, free but must register

November 20 Craft Fair, Salt Creek Sports Center, Palatine, 9AM-2PM

November 20 & 21 Craft Glass Pumpkins at Patterson Glass, Mundelein, various times, $35-$95 based on size, must make a reservation

November 20 & 21 Wilbat Glass Studio Open House, Mundelein, 10AM-5PM Sat, 10AM-4PM Sun. see glass blowing demos, free

November 20 Holiday Walk McHenry, a variety of holiday events all day but a special highlight are the Living Windows from 5PM-7PM

November 20 Friendsgiving with the Wildlife, Willowbrook, Glen Ellyn, 2PM-3PM, see what it is like to take care of resident wildlife in the winter, $5 pp, ages 12 and up, must register

Sunday, November 21:

November 21 Nocturnal Hunters Owl, River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 1:30PM, learn about what makes owls fascinating, free
