The weekend is nearly here! I am back to putting together my list of weekend fun ideas for families. Here are my picks for this weekend:

Ongoing:

Ongoing Tour the Frank Lloyd Wright House and Studio during the holidays: Every year, the Oak Park home of the famous architect is decked out with period decorations for the holidays. The tree is absolutely not to be missed! Be sure to reserve your tour online. Tours are $20 per person.

Through March 27, 2022 Ansel Adams: Early Works, Dunn Museum, Libertyville, see website for times and ticketing info

Ongoing Visit Oak Park Conservatory for a warm-weather escape and brilliant blooms without leaving the 'burbs. Admission is free, donations appreciated. While in the area check out the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio and other Frank Lloyd Wright homes.

Saturday, January 15

January 15 Chilly Open, Arlington Heights Golf Club, Arlington Heights, 8:45AM-3PM, golfers of all ages welcome, $40 pp for 9-18 holes, $30 pp for 3-6 holes, all the chili you can eat

January 15 Vernon Hills Winterfest, Century Park, Vernon Hills, 1PM-2PM, dog sled demo, s'mores, horse and carriage ride, ice skating and more, free

January 15, 16 & 17  Farmlife in Winter, Kline Creek Farm, West Chicago, 1:30PM-3:30PM, a variety of winter farm activities including harvesting ice, free

January 15 Exploring Gemstones, Lizzadro Museum, Oak Brook, 2:00PM-3PM, learn the fundamentals of gemstones and geology, $10 per adult, $8 per senior, $5 per child, register online

January 15 Sunset Hike, Camp Reinberg, Palatine, 4PM, enjoy a sunset hike, snowshoes will be available if needed, free but must register

Sunday, January 16

January 16 Family Winter Scavenger Hunt and Campfire, Trailside, River Forest, 1PM-2:30PM, free and self guided but registration required

January 16 Illuminated Night Hike, Crabtree Nature Center, Barrington, 7PM, Giant's Hollow will be lit by candles and the full moon for an evening hike, free but must register

Monday, January 17

January 17 Lake in the Hills Ice Bowl Disc Golf Tournament, Linda K Fischer Park Disc Course, 9:30AM-2PM, tix for players 15 and older, $25 for residents and $27 for non, free for those 14 and under if playing with paying player.
