The weekend is coming up and there is plenty of fun ahead. Here are my picks for fun in the Chicago suburbs this weekend:

February 5 - May 29 Houses of Tomorrow: Solar Homes from Keck to Today, Elmhurst Art Museum, Keck's Glass House of Tomorrow designed for the 1933 World's Fair was the first in the USA and groundbreaking in terms of solar energy, learn about his designs and others taking into account sustainable practices, advanced ticket purchase required, $15 per adult, $12 per senior, kids are free 

March 12 - May 29 Secret Life of Butterflies at Nicholas Conservatory in Rockford, experience butterflies flying around the conservatory, watch them emerge from cocoons, see website for ticketing info

Fermilab Natural Areas in Batavia are back open! The natural areas -- which are home to a herd of bison -- have reopened to the public. See website for details on admittance.

April 9 Spring Bird Walk, Chicago Botanic Garden, Glencoe, 8AM, 2 hour guided walk, $16/member, $20/non, for adults, must register

April 9 Find the Frogs Hunt, Trailside, River Forest, 9AM-5PM, find statue frogs hidden in the gardens while listening to the real frog chorus, free

April 9 Holi The Festival of Colors, Naperville Riverwalk, 11AM-4PM, throw your worries to the wind, celebrate the festival of color by throwing bags of organic dyed flour at each other, live music, food, free admission, $2 per bag

April 9 Lake in the Hills Bunny Trail, 10AM-11:45AM, register for slots, $2 for non-residents

April 9-10 Make Your Own Glass Egg, Patterson Glass, Mundelein, 10AM-2PM, $65 small, $95 large, appointments strongly suggested

April 9 Wilderness Survival, Busse Woods-South, Elk Grove Village, 10AM-12PM, hands-on demo learning how to use the resources around you, free, ages 8+

April 9-10 Spring Planting on the Farm, Kline Creek Farm, West Chicago 10AM-4PM

April 9 Backyard Birds of Prey, Willowbrook, Glen Ellyn, 10:30AM-11:30AM, learn about the most common birds of prey in our area and how to identify them, ages 12+, $5 pp, must register

April 9-10 Volo Bog Tours, Ingleside, 11AM and 1PM, meet in front of visitor center, 1 hour long, free

Sunday, April 10

April 10 Easter Egg Hunt, Cantigny Park, Wheaton, 10AM-4PM, $5 per car, bring your own basket, limited to 5 eggs, food trucks, craft for $3, book fair and more

April 10 Spring Stroll River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 10:30AM, 1;30PM, a walk to see the signs of spring, free but must register.
