Another spring weekend is around the corner! There are plenty of fun events this weekend -- check out my picks:

February 5 - May 29 Houses of Tomorrow: Solar Homes from Keck to Today, Elmhurst Art Museum, Keck's Glass House of Tomorrow designed for the 1933 World's Fair was the first in the USA and groundbreaking in terms of solar energy, learn about his designs and others taking into account sustainable practices, advanced ticket purchase required, $15 per adult, $12 per senior, kids are free 

March 12 - May 29 Secret Life of Butterflies at Nicholas Conservatory in Rockford, experience butterflies flying around the conservatory, watch them emerge from cocoons, see website for ticketing info

Fermilab Natural Areas in Batavia are back open! The natural areas -- which are home to a herd of bison -- have reopened to the public. See website for details on admittance.

April 29 - May 15 Lilac Time, Lilacia Park, Lombard, lilac heritage walks, arts and crafts fair, village cottage tours, parade and more, see website for more details

April 30 World Migratory Bird Day, Lost Valley Visitor Center, Glacial Park, Ringwood, 8AM-12PM, learn about birds, enjoy family-friendly activities, get your passports stamped, win prizes

April 30 Lake Renwick Migratory Bird Hike, Lake Renwick Heron Rookery, Plainfield, 8AM-10AM, ages 7 and older, must register, free 

April 30  - May 1 Art in Wilder Park, Wilder Park, Elmhurst, 10AM-5PM, over 100 Midwest artists; exhibits and events, free admission

April 30 - May 1 Make Mother's Day Glass Pendants, Patterson Glass, Mundelein, 10AM-2PM, $35, reservation preferred

April 30 - May 1 Spring Planting on the Farm, Kline Creek Farm, West Chicago, 10AM-4PM, see how families prepared to plant for the season in the late 1800's, maybe you will even plant some seeds, house tours start each hour, suggested donation $5

April 30 Under the Canopy, Rolling Knolls, Elgin, 10AM-1PM, guided by U of I master naturalists, bird hike, forest therapy experience, learn about conservation at home, make and takes and more, free but must register
