Chicago Botanic Garden Celebrates 50 Years With Flourish: The Garden At 50

Flourish: The Garden At 50 Celebrates The Chicago Botanic Garden At 50 With Art, Nature and Pop-Up Experiences

Chicago Botanic Garden marks 50 years of an ever-expanding nature presence including brilliant blooms, nature education, scientific research, conservation, public gardens, community gardens, farm sites, community events, summer farmers markets, orchid shows, butterfly enclosures and much more in 2022. Flourish: The Garden At 50 opens this May to celebrate the special occasion.

Flourish: The Garden at 50 will feature 10 different nature-inspired art installations created by Chicago, national and international artists. On a recent visit to Chicago Botanic Garden, we noted a number of the installations popping up throughout the garden. So, we are eager to return and see more.

Additionally, golden-hued planets will be integrated into gardens reflecting on Chicago Botanic Garden's golden anniversary! Flourish: The Garden at 50 also incorporates interactive stories reflecting on the past down memory lane and the imagined future of the garden. Special pop-up events will add another special flair to the celebration. Details for the pop-ups are still being ironed out, so watch for updates. Events will also include the Windy City Harvest's Farm on Ogden. Expect to be engaged with nature in new ways!

I am looking forward to checking out the nature-inspired and trying to spot special pops of gold in the garden during this celebration. The new installations are part of regular admission to the garden. Windy City Harvest's Farm will have its own special art. Chicago Botanic Garden has been such an incredible part of our community teaching us about nature and joining us in community events and experiences. I hope the garden will flourish for many, many more years to come.
