We are rounding the corner to the weekend! Here are my picks for family fun this weekend:


Ongoing

Through February 12, 2023 Sentrock: The Boy Who Wanted to Fly, Elmhurst Art Museum, the exhibition includes a mural, video projections, a sculpture, paintings, a life-sized bird house and more about the Bird City Saint character and life about Pilsen artist Joseph Perez, included in regular admission

Winter Lights at Fabyan Japanese Garden: Enjoy the historic Geneva garden in a new light Fridays and Saturdays, November 25-December 16 and Fridays January 7-28. $8 pp, must register, kids 5 and under are free.

January 20 - February 5 Naperville Restaurant Week -- take advantage of specials and enjoy eating local in Naperville during this special event

Road Trip --  Milwaukee Museum Days January 19-29  which offers special museum admission fee. This is a great time to explore Milwaukee museums and a few nearby.

January 21 In Search of Eagles, 8AM-10AM, naturalists will be on hand at the McHenry, Carpentersville and Algonquin dams to help spot eagles. Scopes and binoculars will be available. There will be activities for kids.

January 21 Robert's Yukon Adventure Day, The Grove, Glenview, 11AM-3PM, learn what Kennicott's expeditions to the Yukon were like, dog sled demos, learn about winter ecology, campfire, s'mores, hot cocoa and more, $7 day of, $5 if you reserve online 

January 21 Winterfest, Twin Lakes, Palatine, 12PM-3PM, sled dog demos, winter themed food and drink for purchase, $9 pp nr, $7 pp resident

January 21  Farmhouse Tours Keeping Your Family Healthy in Winter, Kline Creek Farm, West Chicago, 10AM-4PM, learn about "sick foods" and how candy was used as medicine, free, $5 donation suggested

Sunday, January 22

January 22 A Winter Walk, River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 1PM, enjoy a winter walk in the woods, free but you must register

January 22 Winterfest Wheeling, Horizon Park, 1PM-3PM, dog sled demos, penguin egg hunts, giant snowglobe photos, winter crafts and arts and more, free

January 22 Dog Admission Day, Morton Arboretum, Lisle, dogs are welcome to visit Morton Arboretum with their owners, regular admission applies to owners, dog admission is $5

January 22 Marvelous Monarchs, St. James Farm, Warrenville, 2PM-3PM, learn how you can help monarchs and other native pollinators, $5 pp, ages 12+, must register
