A visit to Duluth, Minnesota, offers a wonderful launching point for hiking all along Minnesota's North Shore. However, visitors should remember Duluth holds its own fabulous hiking trails. In the past, we enjoyed a hike at Congdon Park. During our most recent Duluth vacation, we wandered the trails of Lester Park.

During our recent Minnesota adventure, we explored the St. Croix Boom Site in Stillwater, Minnesota. We found our hike along sandstone cliffs to have a bit of a welcome challenge and beautiful views. With very few other visitors, we enjoyed nature totally in peace.

Hiking the rolling trails of Boone Creek Conservation Area in Bull Valley, Illinois, guided us through wetlands, prairie, and woodlands. The 608-acre McHenry County forest preserve fascinates with an overlook providing a view of the slightly hilly area. Our summer visit welcomed us to another incredibly fantastic Chicago suburban forest preserve.

Scenic Beloit, Wisconsin hiking trails inside the beautiful, 190-acre Big Hill Park beckon to be explored. Just as the name Big Hill Park indicates, the preserve offers nature adventurers the opportunity to wander bluffs up above the Rock River. On a recent summer day, we reveled in fantastic river views, the shade of the woodlands, and rolling trails at Big Hill Park.
