A Little Time and a Keyboard: Local Family Events

Local Family Events

As a mom on the go, I am always looking for fun and affordable things to do in the 'burbs. This list is not meant to be a comprehensive list. However, it is a way for us to share with you interesting, fun, and affordable activities that we have found in the area. These are events that we have either been to in the past or we would take our kiddos to:

  • Ongoing:

February 1-28 Winter Wonderland at Canal Shores -- a local art event in Evanston that gets everyone engaged in creating and exploring! There are special demos on Saturdays at the fire pit, so check those out.  Check out how you can contribute as well. I am personally adding to this exhibition and can't wait!

February 4 - Ongoing Naper Settlement is back open to the public including viewing the Women: Waves of Change exhibit. Naper Settlement is currently open Tuesdays - Fridays 10AM-4PM, $5 pp, must register ahead.

  • February 13 & 14  Farm Life in Winter, Kline Creek Farm, West Chicago, 1:30PM-3:30PM, learn about work on the farm in winter and even help, masks required, free

  • February 14 Meet the Gnomes, River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 10:30AM, join a walking tour looking for gnomes and learning about nature, free but must register
