For two days this fall, over 250 cultural and architectural treasures throughout different Chicago neighborhoods and two suburbs will be open to the public for free during Open House Chicago. The event will give the public behind the scenes looks at repurposed mansions, rarely seen offices, skyscrapers, theaters, industrial facilities, inspirational places of worship and more reflecting the cultural diversity and history of Chicago. Some of the structures featured are among the most iconic in Chicago. Highlights include:


  • Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio
  • Baha'i House of Worship
  • Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel
  • Alliance Francaise de Chicago
  • Metropolis Coffee Company
  • Congress Theater
  • Frederick Robie House
  • Wintrust Arena
  • Ignite Glass Studios
  • Goodman Theatre
Open House Chicago is an annual festival  put together by the Chicago Architecture Foundation and provides the public with an amazing opportunity to enjoy behind the scenes looks at a variety of buildings throughout Chicago neighborhoods and two suburbs. The event runs 9AM-5PM on October 14 & 15 but times to vary upon site. If you check out the Open House Chicago website, you can peruse this year's offerings and piece together itineraries. The event looks like an amazing way to see a variety of the places that make the fabric of Chicago. Great one to have on your list!
