Condado Tacos Pittsburgh

On our way home from Annapolis, we stopped in Pittsburgh for dinner. We always make a stop in Pittsburgh on our way out to see my family or on the way back because we love the city and, of course, love this view:

We normally eat in the Strip District but decided to try something new this time. So, we headed to Condado Tacos in the nearby Cultural District near the Westin Convention Center.

Condado has a fun concept of building your own tacos with both conventional and unique ingredients. They also have intriguing combination suggestions to choose from if you do not want to build your own. My daughter and I both chose to build our own and filled out these handy sheets:

I crafted one of my tacos with portabellas, red cabbage, lettuce and guacamole.

I also crafted one with roasted pollo, lettuce, red cabbage and chipotle crema.

My husband went for a Bubba Kush with peezler shell, smoked cheddar, pulled pork, jicama, onions, pineapple salsa and jackfruit BBQ sauce and a Ooey Gooey with a corn hard shell, queso blanco, pollo, black beans, cilantro-onions and dirty sauce.

My daughter went for a pulled pork taco with pineapple salsa. Great tacos and so many choices!

Condado is pretty entertaining. I have been to other taquerias with options to build your own tacos. Condado, however, has one of the largest ingredient lists I have seen. Plus, some of the options are truly inventive. We appreciated the novelty of the restaurant and it added some frivolity and good food to our long day on the road! They do have a good happy hour special, so check for that if you want to visit. There are also locations in Columbus and new ones popping up in Cincinnati and Indianapolis.

After eating, we walked a bit of the Cultural District to peek at some of the street art. First, we took a peek at the musicians. Such a fun sculpture!

Then, we checked out Yesterday's Tomorrow.

Pittsburgh is beautiful in so many ways -- incredible architecture, stunning bridges and fascinating art throughout the city. Definitely a place we enjoy exploring! Alas, we had to get back on the road but we look forward to our next Pittsburgh adventure!
