A Little Time and a Keyboard: Spicing Things up with Galena Garlic Company

Spicing Things up with Galena Garlic Company

Galena Garlic Company caught my eye some time ago. They have some intriguing unique blends and they are local to Illinois. What isn't to love! Recently, we were given the tasty opportunity to try some seasonings from Galena Garlic Company. We had fun experimenting some of their most popular blends and I thought that we should share some of our experimentation with you!

We were so graciously supplied with five awesome blends to work with. I am going to talk about two of them in this post. Each of the blends is surprisingly versatile and can be used with a variety of meats and vegetables. The spice packages are very handy-dandy. They can easily be resealed. This is very useful if you do not have any empty spice bottles sitting around! Plus, the labels clearly explain the ingredients in each blend as well as suggest great pairings. Two of the blends that we tried were the Coffee BBQ and the Papa Laszlo's Steak. Both were a-m-a-z-i-n-g!

Take a look at Papa Laszlo's Steak Blend:

Here is a quick peek at the Coffee BBQ blend:

We used the Coffee BBQ on shrimp and chicken. The coffee really produced a rich yet bold flavor. A sweetness came through with the tomato powder. You also get a little bite from chiles. The Coffee BBQ is truly a unique blend that keeps your palate searching for more. The blend is easily added to your dishes. I love easy! I threw in a teaspoon with some shrimp stir fry. Delicious!

We also used it as a rub for some grilled chicken strips. This blend is definitely worthy of a favorite status at any barbecue. I am actually pretty addicted to it. I just love the marriage of the richness of the coffee and the sweetness of the tomato. My daughter actually liked the chicken as well--which is highly unusual because she does not eat normally eat chicken with anything on it. (Yes, she is another child afflicted with a phobia of spices.)

Next, we tried Papa Laszlo's Steak Seasoning. I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this one. The blend has nice, beautiful pieces of garlic, sea salt, and onion. We ended up using this blend to bake some potato wedges. The blend does have a lot of salt in it, so use it sparingly. To make the potatoes, I cut 3 medium potatoes into small, thin wedges. Then, I tossed them with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 teaspoon of the blend. I popped them into the oven for 25 minutes at 425. (Time will vary on how thick you cut the potatoes.)

We served the potatoes for a get together and they disappeared quickly! Here is a look:

Galena Garlic Company has two shops--one in Galena and one in Geneva. Closer to us, you can find them at Oh, Olive! which has multiple stores in the Chicagoland area. Of course, you can also order something special online, too! Galena Garlic Company has a large range of products to take in--garlic, oils, salts, blends, infusions, and much more.

We will be trying a few more blends from Galena Garlic Company, so watch for another post!

**Disclosure: We received complimentary blends from Galena Garlic Company for the purpose of making an accurate review. No other compensation was received. All opinions are 100% our own.
