New Year's Eve Festivities for Families {Chicago Suburbs}

Soon, we will be ringing in the New Year! Time to survey the fun family activities for the big day! Many of them are during the day but a few are in the evening--so something to fit everyone's plans!


Take a peek at events in the Chicago Suburbs:
  • New Year's Eve Bash, Kohl Children's Museum in Glenview, two sessions 8:30AM-11AM or 12:30PM-3PM, Children's concert with Wendy Morgan & DB(morning session only), DJ and dance party (afternoon session only). Free kids' party hair styling and coloring from Kidsnips, Party hat making and horns, Free family photos and photo frame decorating to remember the day, Times Square-style confetti drop! Tickets $31 pp non members, $21 members, buy tickets online. We have attended this event before and while the price may seem a bit steep, we had a blast!
  • Bubble Bash, DuPage Children's Museum, Naperville, 9AM-12PM, make glowing Kryptonite putty, create your own cape, make super hero wands from organic fruit, learn how to be your own super hero during the bullying and predator prevention program, more, $20 member, $25 non, buy tickets online.
  • Itsy Bitsy New Year's Eve Countdown, Sport Center Schaumburg, 10AM-12PM, inflatables, ride on toys, other unstructured activities, balloon drop, $10 pp resident, $15 pp non resident, register, ages 1-6.
  • Happy Noon Year's Eve Party, Park Center, Glenview, 10AM-12PM, crafts, play games, inflatables, snacks, balloon drop, $7 resident, $9 nonresident, register children, parents do not need to register but must accompany child.
  • New Year's Eve Party, Indian Trails Public Library, Prospect Heights, 11AM-12PM, for ages 5-10, make crafts, play a game, make a resolution, enjoy snacks, parents and younger siblings may join to celebrate a New Year at 11:45AM, free, limit 75, tickets handed out 30 minutes prior.
  • Happy New Year's Party, Arlington Heights Memorial Library, Arlington Heights, 11AM-12PM, dance, work on crafts, play a game, sign up, ages 4-6, free, card not necessary, register.
  • New Year's in Naperville, two celebrations at Millenium Carillon, family celebration at 5PM, family music, cocoa and crafts at Riverwalk Eatery, bells for all in attendance and glow bracelets for kids, another celebration at 11:30PM with Viennese traditional music, free, both are family appropriate, also take in Naper Lights while visiting.
  • New Year's Eve Freeze Glenview Winter Carnival, Glenview Ice Center, 5:00PM-7:00PM, fun on and off the ice, balloon twister, kiddie toast at 7:00PM, $8 pp, $4 skate rental
  • Family New Year's Bash at Orbit Skate Center, Palatine, 6PM-11PM, "glow" theme, wear white or neon to "light" up, admission includes skating, 2 hour pizza buffet, glow items and skates, balloon drops with prizes and cash, countdown to midnight, $20 pp in advance, $25 pp at the door, purchase tickets online. There is also an event for younger families (kids 12 and under) from 1PM-4PM for $12 at the door with a 1 hour pizza buffet.
  • New Year's Eve at Pinstripes, two balloon drops at 8PM and 12AM, complimentary champagne toasts, complimentary party favors, live music no cover charge, reservations recommended, regular menu available, bowling & bocce too!

    1. Hi, Lisa! I don't have one together yet but I am hoping to get something together. It is tough with the holidays! Hope you guys have been having fun! Did you guys check out any of the lights? I just heard that this is probably the last year for the drive through light show in Vernon Hills. :(
