Porch at Cattails at the Starved Rock Marketplace

Not too far from the majestic Starved Rock State Park travelers can find the Starved Rock Marketplace. The exterior has always looked so adorable that I noted I should stop and take a peek when time allowed. During our recent visit to Starved Rock, we earmarked some time to explore.

Inside of Cattails at Starved Rock Marketplace

The Starved Rock Marketplace is a fusion of three different venues. We first visited Cattails which is a large gift and clothing shop. Oh my, there is so much inside of Cattails to see! Of course, Cattails does have Starved Rock souvenirs but the store is so much more and very well put together. A real pleasure to walk around. I was happy to find quite a number of items made in America including some made by artisans in the area.

Gifts at Starved Rock Marketplace

Clothing, decorative items, preserves, baby gifts, Irish novelties and more---you will definitely spend a bit of time perusing during your visit.

Wine Room at Cattails at Starved Rock Marketplace
Time to relax in the Wine Room!
After wandering through Cattails, we meandered inside the Wine Room which features wines from all over Illinois. The interior is quite inviting and appears to be a wonderful place to chill. Visitors can enjoy wine tastings, a glass of wine and craft beer. A Bloody Mary bar is featured on weekends. Be on the lookout for live entertainment! An outdoor patio provides a nice place to relax as well.

Chillin on 6 at Starved Rock

Next door to the Wine Room is Chillin on 6 tempting all with a sweet tooth! Chillin on 6 features homemade artisan ice cream (yum!) and homemade fudge (double yum!). Nostalgic candy and flavored popcorn also woo customers. We went home with a lovely variety of fudge. Who could resist?

As you can see, I quite enjoyed our little diversion! A nice addition to a Starved Rock visit!
