Weekend ahead! I am so excited that some of my springish favorites like maple sugaring events are here! Some great family fun ideas this weekend in the Chicago suburbs:

  • March 3 Dog Admission Day, Morton Arboretum, 7AM-sunset, normal admission applies plus $5 per dog, cannot walk in certain areas, more information on website

  • March 3 Nature Discovery Days: Maple Sugaring, Knoch Knolls, Naperville, 12:30PM-3:30PM, discover how maple syrup is made, try tapping and more, free

  • March 3 & 4 Maple Sugaring Kline Creek Farm, West Chicago, 10AM-4PM, try your hand at tapping, watch maple sugar thicken and more, free
  • March 3&4 and 10&11 Festival of the Sugar Maples, Coral Woods Conservation Area, Marengo, 10AM-3PM, learn how trees produce sap and how it is collected, see syrup made in the evaporator house, hikes, free admission, treats for sale
  • March 3 Mini Golf Fundraiser, Mount Prospect Public Library, 10AM-3PM, golfers will putt throughout the library, 19th hole entertainment area for extra fun, $5 pp or $20 for family of four or more, money helps fund library programs
  • March 3 Nature Play Dates, Heller Nature Center, Highland Park, 10AM-11:30AM, themed activity, I Spy Hike, bring a picnic lunch for after, free admission
  • March 3 Saturday Kids Club, Glen Town Center, Glenview, 10:30AM-11:15AM, stories, crafts and more, free but must register
  • March 3 Sun Gazing, Crabtree Nature Center, Barrington, 1PM, look for the sun through a filtered telescope, free
  • March 3-4 Maple Sugaring Days: LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve, St. Charles, 1PM-4PM, learn how to tap maple trees, learn how to set a tap, see sap thickening into syrup over a fire, take a nature hike, taste local syrup, free
  • March 3 & 4, 10 & 11, 17 Sap's Rising River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 1:30PM, walk through the forest as winter comes to an end and learn about the history of maple syrup production, free
  • March 3 Spring Tech Fair, Arlington Heights Memorial Library, 2PM-4PM, enjoy playing with gadgets, free
Sunday, March 4:
  • March 4 BA Library ComicCon, Barrington, 1:30PM-4:30PM, superhero story time, mask making, robot scavenger hunt, cosplay contest and more, free, see schedule
