Tasty Tidbits from Taste of Wisconsin in Kenosha, Wisconsin

On the spur of the moment, we visited Taste of Wisconsin in Kenosha yesterday. Of course, the sunny weather and the added plus of beautiful views of Lake Michigan further inspired our visit. We really enjoyed a lovely summer afternoon and I thought that I would share a few tidbits with you.

Food trucks and tents full of locally made food offer visitors a range of tastes at Taste of Wisconsin
While there were plenty of food trucks and tents, they were spread nicely throughout the park.
The Taste of Wisconsin is situated at Celebration in Kenosha's Harbor Park right on Lake Michigan. Local food vendors form a large ring that you can walk around. Even though we were handed a map, we walked around once to look over our options. There was quite a range of food from fair favorites to more fancy options and plenty in between. My daughter was first to choose. I am not shocked that she went with pizza because we don't often have it at home. She chose a lovely slice of pepperoni from Ruffolo's Special Pizza 2. Yum!

The event has four different stages with entertainment at each. There is also a special kid's zone area and bouncy houses. While my husband were still pondering our choices, we were able to listen to some musical entertainment. There is really nothing like listening to live music on a summer day!

We settled on some potato and cheese pierogies from JR European Cuisine. They were delicious and I was surprised by how large the order was!

While we were strolling about, I saw some incredible looking nachos with vibrant veggies. They definitely piqued my interest and I eventually tracked them down at GypsySoul Food Truck. I can tell you that their Vegan Nachos are AMAZING!

My husband loves his cheese steaks. When he saw Big Lou's Standing Room Only, he had to try one. So, a an original Standing Room Only it was and it was devoured! Yum!

Of course, we could not leave Kenosha with Elsie Mae's Pie!. Elsie Mae's had an adorable with not only a selection of their famous mini pies but also preserves, pie tacos, special unicone and a shark week cone, adorable lemonade shake ups and I am sure I am probably missing something else -- they had a full big tent of goodies!

Aren't these cute?
What did we go home with? We chose the s'mores pie which is my daughter's absolute favorite and the lemon pie. Of course, they were eaten immediately upon our return home. Always a fabulous treat!

Before returning home, we ambled a little longer along the lakefront. The views of Lake Michigan in Kenosha are always breathtaking. What a lovely end to the day!

  1. Glad you got to experience it. One of my favorite summer festivals. So much easier to get to and more accessible than Taste of Chicago. And such beautiful views of the lakefront!
