Spring is here which means so many of our favorite spring events are happening! Here are my picks for this weekend in the Chicago suburbs:

Ongoing:
  • March 18-April 13 Barrington Shoppers Egg Hunt -- find eggs hidden throughout Barrington
  • March 23 - June 2 Simply Spring: The Butterfly Exhibit at Nicholas Conservatory, Rockford, go early as space is limited, adults $6 (Resident), $8 (Non-Resident), senior $4 (Resident), $6 (Non-Resident), Veterans $4 (Resident), $6 (Non-Resident), ages 5-17 $4 (Resident), $6 (Non-Resident). ages 3-4 $2 (Resident), $3 (Non-Resident), ages 2 and under free ($4 admission on Tropical Tuesdays), enjoy butterflies flying around in a tropical setting without leaving the Midwest!
  • April Trash to Treasure at Morton Arboretum, 11AM-4PM, Children's Garden, hands-on activities to learn about recycling, free with admission, Adults ages 18–64, $15 ($10 Wednesdays*), Seniors 65, +$13 ($9 Wednesdays*), Children ages 2–17, $10 ($7 Wednesdays*), Children 1 and younger are free
Friday, April 12:
  • April 12-14  Make a Glass Egg, Patterson Glass, Mundelein, 10AM-4PM, $65 small egg, $95 large egg
Saturday, April 13:
  • April 13 Earth and Arbor Day Event, Village Green, Northbrook, 9AM-12PM, Earth-friendly products, children's activities, recycling drop off, shredding and more, free
  • April 13-14 Northern Illinois Lego Train Show, Mount Prospect Public Library
  • April 13-14 Easter Egg Hunt Open House, Cantigny, 10AM-4PM, Easter egg hunt available throughout day, activities, food trucks, get map at parking booth, bring a basket or make one for $3, $5 parking
  • April 13 Hound Easter Egg Hunt, Town Square, Palatine, 10AM, must register by 4PM on 4/12
  • April 13 Community Egg Hunt, Arlington Heights Historical Museum, 10AM-12:45PM, families with kids ages 10 and under are invited to an egg hunt on the grounds, enjoy the museum and scavenger hunt after, $5 per person, please register online, 2 times available
  • April 13 Easter Egg Hunt, Long Grove, 10:30AM-12PM, jelly bean scavenger hunt after 11:30AM-4:30PM, bring a basket, other activities, DJ, petting zoo
  • April 13 123 Andreas Family Fiesta and Book Festival, AHML, 1PM-3PM, celebrate the day of the child with the music of 123 Andreas, activities and refreshments, free

  • April 13-14 Fox River Arts Ramble, self-guided, two day arts tour from Aurora to Elgin
  • April 13 Radio Telemetry, Crabtree Nature Center, Barrington, 1PM, learn how and why radio telemetry is used to track, try some equipment, free
  • April 13 Doggie Easter Egg Hunt, River Bend Community Park, 2PM, $7 registration permitted onsite, dogs must have vaccinations and current tags
Sunday, April 14:
  • April 14 Great Midwest Train Show, DuPage County Fair Grounds, 9AM-3PM, $7 adults, kids 12 and under free, model train displays, lego layout, HO layout for kids to operate and more
  • April 14 Springtime on the Farm, Volkening Heritage Farm, Schaumburg, 12PM-4PM, $4 pp, $16 per family, kids three and under are free
  • April 14 Birds of Prey Series, River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 1:30PM, learn about characteristics that help birds of prey survive, some raptors will visit, free
