Kishwauketoe Trail introduces an interesting hike through varying habitats near Geneva Lake in Williams Bay, Wisconsin. Kishwauketoe's name is derived from Potawatomi loosely meaning "Clear Water" or "Lake of the Sparkling Water" so is not only reminiscent of the Potwatatomi that once called the area home but also of dedication to keep the nature areas of Williams Bay beautiful and thriving for future generations. Emerald green as far as the eye can see at Kishwauketoe

The preserve incorporates about 4 miles of trail that we found to be fairly well maintained. We walked through quite a bit of marshland and you could see woodlands a little further off.  There is an arboretum as part of the preserve as well as a garden area.

Walking on the boardwalk is part of the fun of visiting Kishwauketoe. There really is not any tree cover for the trails, so be prepared for that. We were dazzled by the vibrant emerald hues on our visit.

The entire preserve was lush and we enjoyed spotting vibrant wildflowers popping up throughout.

Overall, the majority of Kishwauketoe is a wetland with water at or near the surface.

A variety of ecosystems meld together at Kishwauketoe.

We savored hiking a couple of the trails at Kishwauketoe. We found the preserve easy to navigate and basked in the emerald green hues. Of course, who doesn't like walking on a boardwalk?
