Open House Chicago Opens Architectural Treasures to the Public October 19-20, 2019

Open House Chicago is the Chicago Architecture Center's yearly event opening a variety of Chicago's notable architectural and cultural gems to the public for behind-the-scenes adventures. Some of the structures are rarely ever open to the public. Others will have sections open that are not always viewable to the public. The event this year runs October 19-20, 2019. Admission is FREE making it even easier to explore many fantastic structures.

This year's event welcomes adventurers to over 350+ sites including:


  • Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and Money Museum
  • The Rookery
  • Wintrust's Grand Banking Hall
  • Metropolis Coffee Roasterie
  • Pumping Station One
  • American Toby Jug Museum
  • Irish American Heritage Center
  • The Newport Theater
  • DANK Haus German American Cultural Center
  • The Palet and Chisel Academy of Fine Arts
  • Swedish American Museum
  • Laugh Factory Chicago
  • Oak Park River Forest Museum
  • Oak Park Art League
  • The Second City

Additionally, there will be a Family Festival at Millennium Park's Jay Pritzker Pavilion from 12P-4PM each day where families will enjoy behind the scenes of the marvel created by architect Frank Gehry. Plus, kids will be able to design their own sculptures!

The weekend provides quite the inspiration to explore so many of our Chicago area treasures. Before heading out, take some time to plan your adventure as the sites are throughout the Chicago area and include spots in Oak Park and Evanston. Not all structures are open both days.
