Nature Is Golden Walking Through a Sea of Sunflowers at Von Bergen's Country Market

Nature Is Golden Walking Through a Sea of Sunflowers at Von Bergen's Country Market

Summer finds glory in beautiful sunflowers! Every year, I am delighted with sunshine blooms in my yard most likely planted by our resident chipmunks. This year, though, I decided to wander the brilliant sunflower fields of Von Bergen's Country Market upon recommendation of a friend. My husband and I ventured to the field of golden located in Hebron, Illinois on a Friday morning. You can't really get a morning better than we enjoyed:

Ready to Enter the Maze:

We arrived at 10AM and the lot was already pretty full. So, I would recommend arriving right at 9AM when the maze opens. After parking, we purchased tickets from the booth, put on our wristbands and headed to the maze.

Throughout the sea of gold, bees buzzed about. We really didn't mind and they pretty much stayed away from us. As we walked the dirt paths, we enjoyed sunflowers in all heights and stages.

We even discovered some burgundy blooms. Our adventure may have just inspired a new addition to my garden! Entirely fascinating!

Photo Moments in the Sunflower Maze:

Spots throughout the maze feature interesting photo moments. With COVID, we did avoid these elements. However, they would provide fun photo ops during future visits.

Worry not, photo spots without the props can be enjoyed throughout the maze. While maintaining our social distance and keeping safe, we still found it easy to discover our own spots for photos. To help with congestion, though, guests are encouraged to keep the flow going and not pause too long.

Photo moments with brilliant sunflowers abound.

You cannot help but bask in the sunny glow of the Sunflower Maze while visiting. Von Bergen's did plant three different mazes set to bloom at different times dependent on weather. Before heading out, you should check the Von Bergen's Country Market Facebook page to make sure that there is a maze in bloom and ready for an adventure.

After our time in the maze, we headed to Hazel's Diner and Bakery for a biscuit platter and a HUGE cinnamon roll. We enjoyed our treats as take out. The food was INCREDIBLE and I recommend a stop there if you are hungry. However, they do have different hours currently so check Facebook for updates.

  • There are farm animals to visit with including goats.
  • Food stalls and a picnic table area is available if you are comfortable with outdoor eating.

  • Masks are required in the farm stand. However, wearing them outside is up to your discretion.
  • Be mindful in the maze because it is easy to clog up sections by pausing too long.
