Last Sunday, our winter wanders took us to Kuechmann Arboretum in Lake Zurich. Kuechmann Arboretum is an officially recognized arboretum and offers a beautiful home to 25 species of trees including some that are quite old. The oldest tree at Kuechmann is over 275 years old dating back to before the Revolutionary War!

Admiring a Beautiful Preserve on the West Branch DuPage River in Warrenville, Illinois
Warrenville Grove Forest Preserve represented one small section of a string of DuPage County Forest Preserves that we somehow skipped until the sun last Sunday beckoned us out. We soon discovered a lovely forest preserve along the West Branch DuPage River which had been restored.
Glenwood Park Forest Preserve in Batavia, Illinois proves that sometimes the smallest forest preserves are the best. While only about 40 acres, Glenwood Park Forest Preserve treats to some very beautiful views of the Fox River where you may see quite a few water birds like we did during our recent visit.

The weekend is upon us! Here are my picks for weekend fun this upcoming weekend!
Grohmann Museum located on the campus of the Milwaukee School of Engineering houses an incredible art collection somewhat hidden away from main tourist sites. We have passed by this amazing museum many times on our visits to Milwaukee. Looking for a new adventure this past week. we finally visited. Wow -- we were missing quite a treasure trove of incredible art!
On a winter day last January, we visited McHenry Dam State Park on a hunch that we could possibly see a bald eagle and soak up some fresh air. The hunch that day ended up being fruitful and we did see a bald eagle fishing at the dam! We also saw quite a few other birds, so I knew that we would have to return. This week, we returned to check out this spot again.
