Zooming Through the Volo Auto Museum and Best of the Midwest Hop!!!

A number of Midwestern travel blogs {including ours} are hosting a Best of the Midwest Blog Hop each month. Each month we will have a theme and highlight some of the wonderful attractions throughout the Midwest following that theme! This month, we are focusing on MUSEUMS! With all of the less than desirable weather this winter, these indoor attraction may be just what you need to get through the season!

On one of these dasterdly winter days, we visited the Volo Auto Museum in Volo, Illinois. We have had the Volo Auto Museum on our list for quite some time and a winter day seemed to be the perfect day to explore this indoor attraction. Now, I know that some people who are not into cars may be a bit apprehensive about visiting a car museum. But, I have to say that the Volo Auto Museum really has something of interest for everyone. The museum has its cars separated into various collections, each equally intriguing to explore.

The Layout

After you purchase your tickets, you will receive a map of the museum. The collections are not all housed in the same building, so the map may come in handy. The campus is not overly difficult to navigate but we did miss one section somehow and had to work back.

The Volo Auto Museum is truly full of some notable rides. Who would think this would be the case here in Northern Illinois? We began our visit by weaving in and out of the museum's collection of vintage cars---including many for sale.

I have not visited the Volo Auto Museum yet, but it has been on my list for quite
some time. The Hollywood car collection sounds like it would be neat to see. My daughter will certainly love to see Lightning McQueen and who can resist the Mystery Machine? Of course, who could stop by without seeing the vintage cars? There is a lot to see!

Volo Auto Museum is not just for car lovers or men, its fun for the whole family!  The Museum covers 36 acres, mostly all indoors and includes fifty thousand square feet of antiques and gifts, a life like military combat zone, Betty's Diner featuring decor which includes Elvis Presley's autographed guitar, PeeWee Hermans Bicycle and more.  Plus there are over 300 restored collector automobiles from the early teens through today.
