Hiking in Paul Douglas Forest Preserve in Hoffman Estates, Illinois

Last week, we hiked a section of Paul Douglas Forest Preserve in Hoffman Estates, IL. This section of the Forest Preserves of Cook County was new to us and we were pleasantly surprised. The section that we hiked abuts near I-90 yet we found the preserve to be quite peaceful.

Penny Road Pond in Barrington, Illinois

Looking for a new place to hike, we headed over to Penny Road Pond in Barrington over the weekend. The trails adjacent to the pond area are a bit less defined than in other preserves. In general, the area experiences less traffic which lends to a particularly peaceful experience.

Rock Cut State Park Illinois

During our visit to Rockford, Illinois, we spent a couple hours of our lovely Sunday afternoon exploring Rock Cut State Park. The preserve is quite large and incorporates 40 miles of trails. So, we knew that our visit would only be a taste. We were immediately captivated by the park and I know that we will be back again. Rock Cut does include two lakes and we were able to see both. Views of the lakes were incredible.

Cabin in the woods of Hocking Hills, Ohio

The Hocking Hills region of Ohio is a stunning natural wonderland. So, it provides the perfect nature escape for getting away from it all. We savored our time in the region by enjoying a cabin for two days. Our cabin was set in a lovely wooded area with its share of wildlife visits. We had an incredibly peaceful stay in Nature's Pointe Trail Ridge Cabin!
