Buffalo Creek Forest Preserve in Long Grove, Illinois; Wandering the Trails as Preserve Improvement Continues

This fall, we have taken to walking the paths of newly renovated Buffalo Creek Forest Preserve in Long Grove, Illinois. We have been watching the improvements for quite some time as we passed by and were excited to finally try out the trails!

The preserve melds several ecosystems and also provides some relief for local flooding. Anyone that lives in this area knows that flooding has been an issue for quite some time!

Currently, there is still construction going on in the preserve. A number of bridges are still being built. However, there are still plenty of trails to enjoy!  There are a number of overlooks were you can sit and enjoy nature views.

While we see others enjoying the trails, we do not find this preserve to currently be one of the busiest in the area we have been to. So, it is a bit quieter. While there are trees, there isn't really tree cover on the trails -- at least the ones we ventured. Overall, we enjoyed the preserve and look forward to future developments!
