The weekend is nearly here! There are plenty of fun Halloween and fall activities ahead! Here are my picks:

  • October 18-20 Glass Art Creating Pumpkins, Patterson Glass, Mundelein, 10AM-4PM, first come first serve, $35 pp for small, $65 large
  • October 18 & 19 All Hallow's Eve, Naper Settlement, Naperville, 6:30PM-10PM, see if you can survive the haunts of the settlement, not for kids 8 and under, $20 pp
Saturday, October 19:
  • October 19-20 Hainesville's Civil War Encampment and Battle, 10AM-4PM Sat, 9AM-3PM Sun, free admission and parking
  • October 19-20 Cottages in the Woods Artisan Market, Good Templar Park, Geneva, 10AM-4PM, Scandinavian Cottages in the Woods open up with goods from artisans, Scandinavian food, children's activities, costumed fairies and more, $8 pp, kids 12 and under are free
  • October 19 Trucks, Trunks and Treats, Vernon Hills Park District Aquatic Center, 11AM-1PM, $3 pp, touch-a-truck with trick-or-treating
  • October 19 National Fossil Day, Cosley Zoo, Wheaton, 10AM-4PM, see some fossils while visiting the zoo!, free with zoo admission
  • October 19 Corn Harvest, Kline Creek Farm, West Chicago, 1PM-4PM, help harvest corn and make corn shocks out of corn stalks, make corn husk dolls, free
  • October 19 The Sky's the Limit, Crabtree Nature Center, Barrington, 7PM, view the skies for celestial objects, free but must register
  • October 19 Jammin' Around the Campfire, Nature Center, Schaumburg, 6PM-8PM, free, stories, songs and roasted marshmallows!
  • October 19-20 Hot Air Balloon Festival, Riverside, $20 pp, tix online
Sunday, October 20:
  • October 20 Farnsworth House Family Day, Plano, 10AM-3PM, enjoy a day exploring the walking paths at Farnsworth House, try hands-on STEM activities, $20 per family
  • October 20 Fall Festival, River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 10AM-4PM, storytelling, beekeeping demos, pumpkin painting, hayrides and more, bring food to donate for tickets for activities, free admission
  • October 6, 20 and 27 Croctoberfest, Wildlife Discovery Center, Lake Forest, 10AM-4PM, feeding demos, meet resident crocs and more, free but donations welcome
  • October 20 Pumpkin Flotilla Fest: Pumpkin Flotilla Fest in Glen Ellyn provides a unique opportunity to float your jack-o'-lantern in a lake! You can carve a pumpkin at the festival or bring your own creation which you will need to register ahead of time. The fest features plenty of other fun including a pumpkin carving demo, live music, canoe rides and more. 
  • October 20  Tour Viking, Good Templar Park, Geneva, 1PM-4PM, $5 per adult, $3 per teen, ages 12 and under free, tour the replica Viking ship with a history
  • October 20 Autumn Hues, Crabtree Nature Center, Barrington, 1PM, learn about the change of seasons, will be hiking about 1.4 miles, free
