Through March 27, 2022 Ansel Adams: Early Works, Dunn Museum, Libertyville, see website for times and ticketing info

Ongoing Visit Oak Park Conservatory for a warm-weather escape and brilliant blooms without leaving the 'burbs. Admission is free, donations are appreciated. While in the area check out the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio and other Frank Lloyd Wright homes.

February 5 - May 29 Houses of Tomorrow: Solar Homes from Keck to Today, Elmhurst Art Museum, Keck's Glass House of Tomorrow designed for the 1933 World's Fair was the first in the USA and groundbreaking in terms of solar energy, learn about his designs and others taking into account sustainable practices, advanced ticket purchase required, $15 per adult, $12 per senior, kids are free 

February 12 - March 27 The Orchid Show, Chicago Botanic Garden, be dazzled by displays of stunning wild orchids, ticket prices vary, see website for ticketing details

Through March 6 In Full Bloom Orchid Display, Nicholas Conservatory and Gardens, see website for rates and times

March 4-6 Paleofest, Burpee Museum, Rockford, a variety of interesting speakers, hands-on activities and more, see website for ticketing options

March 5 - 6 Make a Glass Shamrock or Flower, Patterson Glassworks, Mundelein, 10AM-2PM, $35 each, reservations recommended

March 5-7 Festival of the Sugar Maples, Coral Woods, Marengo, 10AM-3PM, learn how maple sugar is made and see demonstrations, free but must register

March 5 + 6 Sap's Rising, River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 10:30AM and 1:30PM, walk in the maple forest and learn how maple syrup is made

March 5 Elmhurst St. Patrick's Day Parade, 12pm

March 5-6 Lego Train Show, Poplar Creek Library, Streamwood, Sat 9-5, Sun 12-5

March 5 - 6 Maple Syrup Hikes, Ryerson, Deerfield, free but must register, variety of times

March 5-6 Maple Sugaring Days, Creek Bend Nature Center, St. Charles, 12pm-3pm, learn how to tap a maple tree, learn about making maple syrup, engaging experiences, try a sample of local maple syrup and more, free

March 5 Campfire Foods 101, Little Red Schoolhouse, Willow Springs, 1PM-3PM, learn how to make easy campfire foods, samples and materials provided, $5 pp,  must register

March 5-6 Maple Sugaring Kline Creek Farm, West Chicago, 1PM-4PM, learn how maple syrup is made, use 1890s tools
