Ongoing Flourish: The Garden at 50, Chicago Botanic Garden celebrates 50 years, look for special art installations and yellow plants threaded throughout the garden, check for special pop-up events

Butterflies and Blooms, Chicago Botanic, admission includes this fun seasonal event

May 21 - September 17 Butterfly House, Geneva, open 9AM-5PM Mon-Sat, 12PM-4PM Sun, recommended donation $2 pp and $6 per family

June 1 - October 31 Alebrijes: Creatures of a Dream World, Cantigny Park, Wheaton, Alebrijes are Mexican folk art sculptures of fantastical creatures, learn about the artists, go on a scavenger hunt for all 48 pieces and more, parking is $10 per car

Through November 6 Delicate Forces, Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens, Rockford, 7 large scale art displays created with dichroic materials crafting kaleidoscope, admission fees apply 

Ongoing depending on blooms Sunflower Festival, Von Bergen's Country Market, Hebron, check out the sunflower maze, purchase tickets online

September 10-October 30 Richardson World's Largest Corn Maze, Spring Grove, currently also has sunflower fields

Ongoing through October  Royal Oak Farm, Harvard, apple picking, apple tree maze, activities,  country kitchen

Ongoing through October Kuipers Farm, Maple Park, UPick apples, opening day August 27

Ongoing through October Stade's Farm, McHenry, UPick Apples starting August 26

September 9-11 Festival of the Vine, Geneva, a variety of community events in addition to wines to sip, local food vendors, craft show Sat and Sun, Kids Fun Sat, live music, horse drawn carriages and much more, see website for more information

September 10 Opening Day Richardson World's Largest Corn Maze, the farm also currently has sunflower fields

September 10-11 Mundelein Arts Festival

September 10-11 Art on the Fox, Algonquin

September 10 Downtown Downers Grove Fine Art Fair

September 10-11 A River Through Time Rendezvous, Willow Springs, 10AM-5PM, a gathering of fur trappers, settlers, craftsmen and entertainers on the Des Plaines, $10 per adult, $5 per child/senior, under 6 free
