Meandering Along Duck Creek Waterfall Hunting at Devils Glen Park in Bettendorf, Iowa

Meandering Along Duck Creek at Devils Glen Park in Bettendorf, Iowa

Disclosure: Thank you to Visit Quad Cities for hosting my trip to the Quad Cities in order to share incredible experiences with my audience. Opinions are 100% my own.

Devils Glen Park beckoned us to wander and scout for a waterfall! The first park established in Bettendorf, Iowa features limestone bluffs, woodlands, Duck Creek, a waterfall and plenty of green space. We spent a quiet Sunday morning wandering the paths of Devils Glen Park. While the waterfall is a star and worthy of adding as an Iowa waterfall trip, the entire preserve brought a calm only nature can to our morning.

Remarkably, the beautiful preserve rests below developments up on the bluffs. Immediately, we were jealous of residents in such close proximity of the preserve. During our walk, we enjoyed spotting wildflowers and birds. In fact, the geese were pretty entertaining as they paused near the river!

The trails found at Devils Glen Park are pretty easy to navigate making the preserve a great choice for any nature lover.  We enjoyed a relaxed pace and wandered on some extra footpaths off of the main trail. The main path is great for walking, running and biking.

Bettendorf Waterfall Hunting

Devils Glen's natural waterfall can be spotted from a bridge while walking along the trail. For a better view, we were able to descended over slightly rocky terrain to the edge of the creek.

I am totally amazed that Bettendorf residents have this beauty right in their backyard! The waterfall rumbles with silver threads cascading over tiered rock.  The eastern Iowa waterfall does wax and wane with rainfall. So, it would be interesting to see at a variety of times throughout the year.
