After visiting Juneau, we meandered our way to Skagway through the Inside Passage. We arrived in Skagway early in the morning and had about 12 hours in port to explore. Our day in Skagway began early with a hike along the stunning yet at times challenging Chilkoot Trail.

| Docking in Juneau, Alaska |
In Alaska, stunning and pristine landscapes abound. On our trek from Ketchikan to Juneau, we entered to Endicott Fjord encountering magnificent scenery at every turn. Our cruise entered a protected area where harbor seals have and raise their young. There are no words for the experience of seeing these lovely creatures resting on icebergs.

When in Alaska, one needs to ride a dog sled. Really, you do. A variety of dog sledding excursions and adventures exist, so plenty of options make the experience easy to fit in your itinerary. We choose a visit to the Dog Sled Discovery & Musher's Camp in Juneau because it fit with our plans for the city that day. The experience was entirely exhilarating and is a wonderful choice for families.

With a climate different than that we grew accustomed to on our previous Caribbean cruises, we knew that a cruise to Alaska would definitely feel quite novel. However, we did not expect the route to Alaska to be as magical as it was. On our previous cruises, much of the scenery while sailing consisted of crystal water in all directions. During our Alaskan cruise, we hugged the coast enough that we could make out land for much of the cruise. Certainly the views were even more magnificent once we reached Alaska!
