Magnificent and regal, the Lincoln-Tallman House beckons visitors to wander its elegant chambers learning about the family that once inhabited them. However, the campus comprises so much more to explore including the beautiful grounds and exhibits introducing Janesville history assembled by the Rock County Historical Society. Robert O. Cook Memorial Arboretum in Janesville, Wisconsin contains approximately 8 miles of trails weaving visitors through a mature forest, prairie, marsh and wetlands. The Arbor Ridge Segment of the Ice Age  National Scenic Trail crosses through the arboretum. This section of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail provided us with such a beautiful nature respite during our Janesville weekend getaway.

Reflecting on our recent hotel stay, we appreciated clean and comfortable accommodations, the convenience of Wissota Chophouse right in the hotel and an ideal location footsteps from the magnificent Rock River. Brilliant blooms, pond serenity, thought-provoking Japanese garden paths, a gently rolling trail and more natural features captivated us during our visit to Janesville's award-winning Rotary Botanical Gardens. Our recent visit to Rotary Botanical Gardens was in fact our second visit and I was so thrilled to meander its paths during a different season. Our previous wander through the gardens included scenes of fall. So, we felt pretty excited to see the gardens fully abuzz during summer.

Creativity swirled around us as we explored Janesville during the annual art celebration Art Infusion! With five new murals added to Janesville's downtown landscape right before our eyes, art certainly was infused into the city. In addition to the murals, amazing chalk artists competed in a chalk drawing competition. Beloit Janesville Symphony Orchestra added musical charm to the event one afternoon. The weekend truly proved to be an art explosion!

On a recent weekend, my husband and I completely recharged during a getaway to Janesville, Wisconsin reveling in art, nature, history and foodie experiences. At just under two hours from our home with so many perfect adventures to be had, Janesville welcomed us to the perfect getaway option. From the moment we arrived until the moment left, we made new discoveries while enjoying our time together. Visiting during a special weekend, our adventure included marveling at the creations of Janesville's annual Art Infusion event. Truly, Janesville invites explorations of art, the outdoors, the past and interesting fare all year round that can be enjoyed while safely maintaining social distancing.

The Ice Age National Scenic Trail is a 1,200 mile trail through Wisconsin highlighting the glacial ice sculpted landscape throughout the state. The retreating glacier left unique landscape features that we can enjoy today through a variety of unconnected hikes. One of these hikes, Devil's Staircase, can be found along the Rock River in Janesville, Wisconsin.
